omnia® Clear is a multi-component wood coating system that offers ultimate protection against UV, weather damage and wood rot. omnia® Clear has been tested under years of accelerated weathering to prove that it will last. The result is a ultra-clear high performance exterior coating system with comprehensive stain blocking and weather resistance.
omnia® Exterior Joinery Coatings are suitable for multiple wood types, as well as Accoya® acetylated wood. Guidelines for the use of omnia® with Accoya® can be found in the omnia® Exterior Joinery Guide for Accoya®.
omnia® Clear System
The omnia® Clear system mainly consists of omnia® Wood Protect, End Grain Sealer and Clear exterior topcoats, but can also include omnia® Knotting to help prevent extractive staining and omnia® Prime Pre-Treatment to further isolate and suppress extractives from woods (such as idigbo, sapele, western red cedar, mahogany, or other timber species) that may stain the coating.
omnia® offers many years of protection against the elements as long as timber selection, preparation and design meet TWA…
A pale shellac solution formulated to seal knots found in timber. Knotting solution will help prevent extractive staining but will not completely stop the resinous excretion exuding from the knot after the timber has been painted.
Brush directly over knots only.
Always check the suitability of the timber for exterior joinery application prior to commencement of the project. Please consult the Usage tab for more information on the omnia® system.
A high performance waterborne timber protector ideally suited to dip, flow, spray and brush application. Offering excellent coverage and durability, complete with specific additives which protect the structure of the wood and actively control discolouration.
Previously known as omnia® Preserve.
omnia® Protect is formulated to provide surface protection against rot and fungal attack. omnia® Protect comes in clear and is also available in 9 standard wood stain colours: antique pine, light oak, teak, mahogany, dark mahogany, rosewood, walnut, dark oak and jacobean.
Use prior to end grain sealing with omnia® End Grain Sealer. After Preserve, apply omnia® Clear. Refer to the Usage tab for more information on omnia® Protect's use in the clear finishing system. Always check the suitability of the timber for exterior joinery application prior to commencement of the project. Please consult the Usage tab for more information on the omnia® system.
Usage
Ensure that the substrate is clean, dry and free from contaminants.
Wipe all surfaces with a sharp solvent such as Morrells Cellulose Thinner (2007/000) prior to coating application. Turn the wiper so that the contamination is removed rather than dispersed. Allow the solvent to flash off for 30 minutes and apply the first surface coating within two hours of cleaning. Observe Health and…
A waterborne sealer used to reduce moisture absorption and to close the porosity of timber end grain. This product must be used as part of the recommended omnia® system. omnia® End Grain Sealer is a high viscosity product designed for brush application and formulated to achieve good penetration, flexibility and moisture repellence.
Use in both the clear and opaque omnia® finishing systems. More information on the finishing systems can be found in the Usage tab.
Always check the suitability of the timber for exterior joinery application prior to commencement of the project. Please consult the Usage tab for more information on the omnia® system.
A range of high performance exterior waterborne lacquers with hybrid-microporous technology and UV diffusers to give unrivalled weather resistance. The structure of the wood is protected from long term UV damage. Available in semi-matt 30% sheen or 60% gloss. A vacuum-coat version is also available for linear mass production.
This range has been extensively tested to BS 927-3 (Natural Exposure) and BS EN 927-6 (Accelerated Exposure) for use as an exterior joinery finish.
Always check the suitability of the timber for exterior joinery application prior to commencement of the project. Please consult the Usage tab for more information on the omnia® system.

Allow the solvent to flash off for 30 minutes and apply the first surface coating within two hours of cleaning. Observe Health and Safety matters. The maximum recommended wood moisture content is 18%. We do not recommend the use of American Oak due its low moisture content and therefore liability of movement.
Clear Finishes:
A stain-inhibiting waterborne treatment ideally suited to spray application, offering excellent isolating power and durability for exterior Joinery applications. This product is recommended as a pre-treatment primer before the application of omnia® Prime (stain-isolating primer).
omnia® Prime Pre-Treatment should be used over the recommended wood preservative/wood treatment. Please consult the Usage tab for more information on finishing.
Good adhesion and extractive suppression, and extensively tested to BS 927-3 (Natural Exposure) and BS EN 927-6 (Accelerated Exposure) when used as a pre-treatment under omnia® Prime.
A high build fast-dry waterborne white primer with excellent covering power and easy sanding. This product inhibits the staining effects of tropical woods and other timbers rich in tannin and natural extractives. omnia® Knotting (3032/000) should first be used if knots are present, and omnia® Preserve (8PR/000) should be used on non-durable woods prior to priming. A vacuum-coat version is also available for mass production. Also available in cream and light grey.
Use omnia® End Grain Sealer 8ES/000 on all exposed end grain. Always check the suitability of the timber for exterior joinery application prior to commencement of the project. Please consult the Usage tab for more information on finishing with the omnia® system.

Solid (Opaque) Colours:
A high opacity, waterborne acrylic polyurethane range of pigmented coloured topcoat for exterior joinery. This range is recommended as a topcoat over both omnia® Prime (stain-limiting primer) or omnia® Preserve (wood preservative to protect wood structure and prevent discolouration) conforming to BS EN335-1 Hazard Class 2 & 3 and extensively tested to BS EN 927-3 (Natural Exposure) and BS EN 927-6 (Accelerated Exposure) for use as an exterior joinery finish.
omnia® White & Colour Exterior Topcoat gives a ultrasmooth finish, superior gloss retention, outstanding weather resistance and is supplied ready for use. Ideally suited to spray application with excellent durability and build, available in white and all BS, RAL & NCS or customer-bespoke Fastmatch® colours in 30% or 60% gloss sheens.
A vacuum-coat version is also available for linear mass production. Always check the suitability of the timber for exterior joinery application prior to commencement of the project. Please consult the Usage tab for more information on the omnia® system.

Exterior Joinery Maintenance Guide
Whilst timber coating systems are guaranteed to last many years in an exterior environment, certain considerations must be made to ensure joinery remains in a sound state. The natural beauty of timber as a material for Exterior Joinery means that, if maintenance is carried out regularly, it will retain its visual appeal for a lifetime.
It is important to remember that regular, minimal maintenance will make recoating / re-decorating joinery a far easier job and as such, Morrells have compiled an easy to follow maintenance plan.
Points to note
Mould and Algae
Whilst mould and algae pose little initial threat to the coating other than the aesthetic appearance, prolonged contact can have a detrimental effect on the coatings surface and lead to water absorption issues over time.
Whilst soapy water may work for early mould attacks, a wipe with a solution of one part bleach to five parts water should be enough to remove most stains. If the discolouration persists then use of a nylon bristled brush (Not metallic) can be used to remove the more stubborn stains.
Damage
Areas where the coating has been damaged or more severely eroded to the point where bare timber is…
